LIGHTING ARTIST - 8-10 month contract (8 positions available)

The ideal Lighting Artist is both an outstanding artist and technically proficient in generating game-useable, efficient material. The position requires a balance of technical, game implementation work and art production. The successful candidate will work with the levels group and apply their superior lighting skills to ensure environments of the highest visual quality.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Apply lighting skills to the existing environments and ensure work is of the highest possible quality
  • Light both interior and exterior scenes using a combination of dynamic and pre-baked lighting techniques
  • Maintain a consistent art style under the direction of the Lead Lighting Artist
  • Report into the Lead Lighting Artist for the duration of a project
  • Learn Proprietary software as required

Qualifications

  • 2+ Years in the Games Industry
  • Can demonstrate knowledge of various game lighting techniques such as vertex and lightmap baking, dynamic lighting and shadowing
  • An eye for detail, style, and ability to create mood through light and shadow, as demonstrated by a top-rate portfolio or demo reel.
  • Ability to problem solve and associate in a dynamic, deadline-oriented team environment.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills.

Assets

  • Experience with dynamic lighting
  • Experience with Turtle, Beast, and/or other GI rendering solutions
  • Strong traditional painting, drawing, or photography skills
  • Additional background in Film or TV VFX is an advantage
  • Knowledge of modeling, animation, VFX and surfacing
